I can't decide between a vega 56 red dragon oced to the max + a large ssd(2tb) and air cool the whole system,  or a reference vega 64 with the ek a240r alluminum watercooling loop.  I like silent but also low maintenance.

Is the difference between a maxed out v56 and a watercooled v64 a big difference? I would be playing games at 1440p with a 144hz monitor( dont expect max fps but looking to stay in the 90-110 range for AAA games on high not ultra) and maxed on exports titles.

Thanks for the help!

People have been able to run the V64 bios on the V56 to get similar performance. Is it safe? No idea, but it is possible. This question comes down to cost. Take a look at this Vega 56 openbox. For that price I would do that.

I've seen the Red Dragon for 309€ about 2 Weeks ago or so.

It looks like a decent card, though it uses the "Nano PCB", so about half of the cooler doesn't have a PCB in the way and blows right through the Cooler.

From what I've seen it might even be the reason that it could be one of the quieter cards. But no guarantee.

Personally I'd get the Red Dragon. Custom Loom Water Cooler is just too much hassle...

Depends on the Game.

On some the V64 is much faster, on others its not really much faster.

I wouldn't have thought it was worth water cooling unless you are using the highest end parts. Would make much more sense to put the Radeon VII under water than a vega 56.

Gaming Rig:CPU: Xeon E3-1230 v2¦RAM: 16GB DDR3 Balistix 1600Mhz¦MB: MSI Z77A-G43¦HDD: 480GB SSD, 3.5TB HDDs¦GPU: AMD Radeon VII¦PSU: FSP 700W¦Case: Carbide 300R

I wouldn't say that.

Its just with a well done Custom Loop you don't touch it again, the Water in that System increases the weight of the System tremendeously.

And of course those Waterblocks are really expensive with like 120€ or more.

But with the Price you have to invest in the Water Cooling stuff, you can also (almost??) Buy a Radeon 7 as well...

After a quick look I'd say something like 100€ for the Radiator, 75€ for the Pump, other stuff. That adds up..
