Dream Battle station Workstation

Specter FXXK

So I`m working for this new youtuber (ofc) lol makeup videos so... im her camera guy/editor/everything i need to be lol, anyways that's besides the point. I have a decent rig

Specs:

  • Ryzen 5 1400
  • 2x8GB DDR4 2666MHz
  • GTX 1060 6GB
  • Asus Prime A320M-K
  • Coolermaster masterlite TG 3.1 (shit case)
  • and a few 2 TB Drives (1TB x2)
  • 23" BenQ Monitor

So this new rig I want it to both game and do workstation stuff like video editing (4K)

should I go AMD or intel? cuz rn from the looks Zen 2 looks promising so if can be Zen 2 Ryzen go ahead!

Budget wise prob 2-3k USD, need a monitor that is 144Hz for gaming (hoping you guys help me choose between 27-32" Size monitor) (G-sync)

then a 32" 4k monitor idc if OLED, and a normal 1440p monitor for just looking at stuff aka this website, youtube etc.

there's nothing wrong with my current setup it's just I need a faster PC, cuz i`m gonna be doing quite a lot of premiere editing, after effects and other stuff.

gonna be giving my best friend the system i`m currently using for him to help me with editing and so on, after we get more money from the job we will just use that PC for a living room setup and not let it go to waste.

so yeah i basically need 3 different monitors 2 can be the same like that 144hz 1440p ones and 1 4K Monitor.

(I Already got a good corsair keyboard/mic btw)

Same thing

Ryzen has excellent value, waiting for Zen 2 is worth it imo

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

your motherboard isn't super good.

Get a better mobo, get RAM that is at least 3000mhz (Ryzen performs better w/ it), get an SSD, get lots of storage since you're an editor.

Also, it seems you haven't heard, all freesync monitors are compatible with nvidia 1000 cards and 2000 cards. You just need windows 10 and driver 417.71 (the new drivers support it too).

Premiere favors Intel's clock speeds but if you're getting a higher end Ryzen CPU it will be fine. Better value for ~about the same speeds.

The Ryzen 5 1400 might have a little bit of trouble with 4k, mainly because it's a quad core. It does have 8 threads so that helps but I would personally recommend that you just get a better CPU and motherboard if you can.

I didn't recommend a crazy Zen CPU lol.

If you think 4 cores and 8 threads is good then you should really be picking up a new CPU and motherboard.

A Ryzen 5 2600/2600x or Ryzen 7 1700/1800/1700x/1800x is perfect and doesn't cost too much. Pair it with a good B450 motherboard and you're set.

For mainstream Ryzen

For Threadripper

For mainstream Intel

For Intel HEDT Platform

I know all of these go over the budget especially the last 3, but I thought it would be good to go with a beefy powersupply so you could upgrade to SLI/Crossfire if you switch to an AMD GPU or for the 1st, 2nd, and 4th ones put in a higher core count, thermal output, etc CPU which is the same reason I went with a high end AIO.

For the last one I had to drop a lot of storage to not aproach $4000 though because the Intel HEDT Platform is ridiculously expensive.

oh yeah make sure you get RAM that's at the speed of 3000mhz at the least. AMD's design for Ryzen has a small flaw that makes all the Ryzen chips perform differently based on RAM speed. 3000mhz is a good speed, and will help for your editing.
