Ok thank you all for the quick replys much appreciated. I have a GTX 1080 and the cooling for the vrm memory chips doesn't look too special so I should be okay

the backplate is there instead of the heatsinks with glue. its the new design introduced with the newer coolers so that the card can be turned back to stock instead of needing to rip off the memory chips because the heatsinks are glued on. 

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Really hoping this is okay. Can't be fucked waiting another week for heatsinks goddamit

thats the heatsink you should have for the back. the install is a bit fiddly as you have to cut in the plastic sheet you get but its honestly not that hard if you just follow the instructions. without the instructions
