Front Panel Mesh Mod?

Derrk

So I've been planning on doing this mod for a while, but then got distracted by life. My front intake is incredibly choked so i've been running my pc without the front panel for a month or so.

The front panel is glass with very tiny slits on the sides for air. I plan on popping the glass off of the plastic, and replacing it with some sort of mesh. I don't know what kind of material i should use that would be effective at catching dust and look good. I have no concern for sound dampening, just getting sick at looking at my case without a front panel.

Here are some pics of my front panel in its current state.  any advice on what material to use and possibly conceal the edges?

I used old window screens on my rig. seems to "work" at keeping the big stuff (pet hair) out.

If you remove the glass from the panel carefully you should be left with a recess and a lip so getting some material such as perforated mesh cut to that exact size should work very well. Behind the mesh you can install a dust filter foam or mesh that will allow you to wash it.

Hello! I have bought the same stupid case a while ago,

*On closer look it looks like it's not the same, but almost looks exactly the same, mine does not even have vents on top and bottom of panel*

i was ranting about this in another thread i made:

Anyway, i was able to remove the glass using soap and some kind of card/idcard-ish to cut between the glass and plastic safely.

i made magnetic strips from something i had laying around and created some kind of 'removable filter',

the filter is just some bug thing you can buy at hw store. (should be one with smaller holes tho)

(this is my first 'casemod')

this looks really clean, i'm looking for something a little tighter to act as a dust catcher tho. I have individual silverstone dust filters on my 3 intake fans (from an old case) but i want something i can clean off without having to take the front panel off to get at those 3 fans.

So far bug netting sounds the best, but i don't know if it has the aesthetic quality i want as well. In a perfect world, i'd like something metal, black or paint-able without blocking airflow, and fine enough to catch dust.

I've found a couple really fine metal mesh sheets on amazon, but they're $20 and i figure this mod shouldn't cost that much

They do make fairly finely perforated sheets but the finer it is the more it hurts airflow, something like a woven mesh of a heavier gauge wire may do the trick. Another option as said is to just use fine mesh window screen.
