Hello.
I recently bought (a week ago) an Asrock RX 580 Phantom Gaming D. This one:
https://www.asrock.com/Graphics-Card/AMD/Phantom%20Gaming%20D%20Radeon%20RX580%208G%20OC/

My PSU was the EVGA 500 but it died today when my brother was playing AC Syndicate
I think it was because of the graphics card having only a 6pin connector when any RX580 has a 180W TPD. But I'm still a novice when it comes to PC gaming so I don't really know.
I'm kind of scared because I don't want to buy another PSU and lose it the same way

In case it helps these are the other parts of my PC:
MB: Asus M5A88v-evo
CPU: FX 6300
RAM: Kingston DDR3 1600mhz 2x4Gb

Is it a graphics card's design issue?
Any thoughts?

Sorry about my english.

Nothing wrong with the graphics card, when you buy a new PSU get a 550 or 600w gold rated PSU so it doesnt blow up or die, what rating did the PSU have?

I'm running R5 1600 + RX580 in a poor 450w psu.

Power calculator suggested 360 watts (420 watt recommended).

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

The standard one. And is tier 6 in the PSU tier list. Pretty bad.

The 6pin connector thing is giving me headaches because the Asrock RX 580 Phantom X has a 8pin connector.

Do you think that the 6pin connector is able to supply the power that the graphics card needs?

are you using a 6 pin when the gpu requires a 8 pin? a six pin wont supply enough power if the GPU is 8 pin.

The two additional pins from 6-8 pin pcie are actually ground lanes so there shouldnt be a problem with power delivery altho a 6 pin is meant to deliver 75W and a 8 pin 150W

RMA that psu if you still have warranty. If you have a case with limited airflow where that cheap psu acted as an additional exhaust fan, its quite normal for it to fail in 5 years.

And if you buy a new psu, buy one with decent stuff inside as it will last longer. Seasonic focus plus, Evga g2/g3, Corsair rmx/Vengeance, new Antec hcg(based on seasonic focus plus). Some have 10 year warranty.

Yes, I definitely need a high quality PSU but I still have the doubt if the 6pin connector will be enough for the card whatever the PSU is.

Like I said, I'm scared to spend a lot of money on a new PSU and lose it because of the graphics card.

What makes you think adding 2 ground wires would save the psu?
