Monoprice MP vs Cf791 vs Massdrop Vast

Bajantechnician
Go to solution Solved by dizmo,

Check the FreeSync ranges, and pick the one that has the best. Other than that, they're likely pretty similar aside from perhaps the Samsung which might use a different panel. I wouldn't worry about the stand on the Monoprice, it has VESA so a $30 stand from Amazon will give you a better experience anyway.

Which monitor?

Hi guys!

Im in the market for a new monitor. Here are the specs im looking for:

Freesync

3440x1440 (minimum)

ultrawide

Color accurate either sRGB or adobeRGB

Curved

Small bezel

Budget ~$500USD, although id ideally stay around 450

greater than 60htz

~35 inches

If i buy a monitor, itll probably be from a 3rd party where i can get it cheaper than the retail.

So far, ive found the Monoprice Zero-G monitor

https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=31005

Ive heard that the stand isnt that good, but i honestly dont really mind

Also found the Massdrop Vast, which more people may be familiar with.

https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-vast-curved-gaming-monitor

As far as i can tell, this is a pretty decent monitor.

Finally, ive found the Samsung CF791

https://www.samsung.com/us/computing/monitors/curved/34--cf791-wqhd-monitor-lc34f791wqnxza/

This is the "best" one out of the lot. I found a deal locally for about 550. Not sure if its worth it though.

What would you recommend?
Thank you!

How would i compare freesync ranges? What would make one better than another?

Should be in the manual, or reviews. A wider range is better. For example some monitors only support FreeSync from 48hz to 75hz, whereas others could be from 30hz to 144hz.

the monoprice is 48-100 and the vast is 40-100 i believe.

Whats the difference between freesync 1.0 and 2.0?

IIRC FreeSync 2 has LFC. I wouldn't get a monitor without it, especially if you're running AMD graphics too.
