I wouldn't say similar. They trade blows when the 2600 is OCed. I agree with you on every point you made minus the first one, which is that they are similar when comparing a non-overclocked 2600. And the truth is most Intel CPUs are better at pure gaming than most AMD CPUs.

Here you can see comparisons of Intel and AMD CPUs across multiple generations. Watch that and tell me what I said is wrong...... You can't. I don't care if you "hate this perception", cause it's not a perception, it's a fact. Zen 2 might be different, but last time I checked, I can't buy Zen 2 right now. So this is what you get.

If you care to provide some sources, I would be happy to read or watch.

OP, a 570 will struggle to get 60+ fps in bigger AAA titles, but in esports type lighter games it should do ok. I would definitely not buy that PSU though. Look for a Corsair CXM (grey label, not green), or a Cooler Master Masterwatt. 450-550W should be plenty.

Look at your own sources. The 2600 beat the 8400 on average when overclocked. Even at stock the performance quite small to where I would consider them similar because unless you looked at the fps counter you wouldn't notice.

Hi Guys,

I'm a first time PC builder and needed some advice. Below are some parts that i plan to buy, appreciate to advice on whether my build is good enough for me to proceed.

My pc main use will be for gaming (Games like dota2/Counter strike) and some administrative works using Microsoft excel etc.

1. CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-core 3.4Ghz

2. GPU - MSI Radeon RX 570 8GB

3. Motherboard - MSI B450M PRO-VDH

4. RAM - Crucial Ballistic Sport LT 16gb (8gb x 2)

5. SSD - Adata 128gb 2.5"

6. Hard Drive - Seagate 2TB Barracuda 3.5"

7. PSU - Evga BV 500 Bronze non-modular

8. Monitor - Acer 23.6" 144hz

9. Casing - Techware matx

Are the parts good enough to go?

Shall i swap some of the part with other better option?

Please do let me know. :)

Thanks!!

That's not even true. The 2600 and the 8400 have basically the same performance with the 2600 often beating the 8400 when overclocked. Also the 2600 is on AM4 which will support ryzen 3000 series processors. Add the fact that the 2600 is cheaper and you can overclock on the less expensive AM4 motherboards and you get a much better buy with the 2600.

@Brooksie359 @PCNoobie I would say that neither of you are right. AMD clearly takes the cake in price, but Intel, for the most part, beats out AMD in pure fps. I would still avoid making blanket statements like the both of you did though. The 8400 does, for the most part, get higher average frame rates in most games than the 2600, but the 2600, again for the most part, provides a smoother gaming experience due to SMT, is cheaper, has a better upgrade path, and can be overclocked. Try to make sure you tell the whole story instead of being clearly biased and potentially leading someone into an uninformed purchase.

Also, how can you give a build when you don't even know the guy's budget or what country he's from? Those parts might be double the price in another country, when another, similar part might be much less.

Hi guys,

* Update answer in regards to my budget and part pricing in my country (Malaysia)

Thanks for the response. I will take some tips given into my build consideration.

As for my budget, i am trying to keep it around RM3000 or just about 700 usd,

At the moment, i'm kinda over the budget as you can see from the pricing below, but i dont mind to add up a little bit if it will benefit me in longer term.

*included with Pricing

1. CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 2600 6-core 3.4Ghz (rm640 / usd 156)

2. GPU - MSI Radeon RX 570 8GB (rm689 / usd 168)

3. Motherboard - MSI B450M PRO-VDH (rm350 / usd 90 )

4. RAM - Crucial Ballistic Sport LT 16gb (8gb x 2) (rm498 / usd 120)

5. SSD - Adata 128gb 2.5" (rm129 / usd 32)

6. Hard Drive - Seagate 2TB Barracuda 3.5" (rm225 / usd 55)

7. PSU - Evga BV 500 Bronze non-modular (rm209 / usd 52)

8. Monitor - Acer 23.6" 144hz (rm609 / usd 149)

9. Casing - Techware matx (rm129 / usd 30)

Sorry if the build kinda noob, first time doing this so I just want to make sure i do it right.

Thanks again for the advice guys.

What I said was 100% accurate. When overclokced the 2600 beats the 8400 on average and at stock settings have their performance are similar. I hat this perception that Intel is faster in gaming when they really aren't when they don't have the frequency advantage.
