Too big for the resolution and can my pc handle this?

kawallala

Hello everyone, today i'm asking about this samsung monitor LC49HG90, mainly about the resolution, it's 3840x1080 in a 49' panel, claiming to be the same as 2 27' side by side, and 32:9 display ratio, and i don't know a thing about pixel density, but i know that my 22' monitor has 1920x1080 and it looks fine, so i don't know if the jump to 49' would be too big

and also, i have this pc:

  • pentium g4560
  • 8gb ram
  • zotac 1050 mini 2gb

would this monitor be too overkill for this computer?

i mainly play warframe, and don't mind using low graphic setting, but i don't know how the ultrawide aspect would affect gameplay

amazon link for the monitor: https://www.amazon.com.mx/Samsung-LC49HG90DMLXZX-Monitor-Super-UltraWide/dp/B078RT392P

why am i asking? it is half price until this sunday in a store in chile, and i'm interesting in upgrading, but seems a little too overkill

also, sorry for spelling, not a native english speaker

Yeah, that monitor is way overkill for your PC.  It doesn't make sense in a meaningful way at all, and gaming is a LOT of pixels for a 1050 2GB ot push.

Go look at a 27" 1080p monitor for pixel density.  THAT is the same density as the monitor you're looking at.

I think you need a 1070 or better to really use that monitor, but that's me.

Good deal if you plan on upgrading the PC at some point tho.

i plan on updating, but considering the rate at which i can earn money, that wont happen until this same date, next year, so an entire year of subpar performance with my current rig, just doesn't seem like a great investment, maybe i'll hold on to the money until i can afford gpu+monitor (and probably cpu too)

Its not the same.

A 49" 32:9 3840x1080 is 81 PPI.

A 22" 1920x1080 is 100 PPI (2 of these together is still 100 PPI)

So it would a downgrade in terms of pixel density. BUT it is the same as a 27" 1920x1080 display. at 81PPI, which isnt uncommon.

As for your PC and how it would handle 3840 x 1080. Its 2 times the pixels of a 1080p display, and slightly more (~480,000 more pixels or ~13% more) than a single 1440p display. I would say checking benchmarks of games u currently play, running  at 1440p, will give u a close approximation of what to expect.

You're right.  a 49" 32:9 isn't a 27" tall, it's more 22" tall size.   My bad.

Seems like it would stay in the 60-70's in warframe in 1440p (though i saw a gtx 1050ti), and in doom dipping into the 40's but that doesn't really affects me, i could really play at those fps, even lowering the resolution scaling, i would not really mind, however, i probably won't be buying the monitor, is really big for my desktop, and i could probably need to wait a year or so to really drive it with a nice rig, it's just not worth the money, but i'll keep you guys updated, since in the span of today i will make the decission

There's probably a reason the monitor is half price.  There just isn't a draw to game on them really.  They are great for people wanting dual monitors or even quad setups in one screen, but realistically they're just TOO wide for me.  I do 2 documents at once on my 21:9 and it is fine.  I don't want to swivel my head that much for a 49".   It's also why I didn't go 32" or larger in 16:9.

I think that's why I love the monitor I have so much, it just fits my eyesight perfectly.

Maybe look at 21:9 1080p monitors if you're set on UW?  Lots less pixels to push than a 1440p UW.
