as a general rule RUN AWAY from anything that uses a number other the 80 in the little emblem for efficiency, there is NO 87% rating there is :

80+

80+ Bronze

80+ Silver

80+ Gold

and 80+ Platinum

based on the rating curve it should be an 80+ Bronze which does at least fit the background color of the "87% efficiency" sticker, but why Thermaltake would not use the 80+ Bronze branding is concerning.

The unit achieves advertised efficiency but is 230V-only, while 80Plus only certified universal voltage units when it was released.

So you're saying to run away from a Super Flower Leadex2???

So that's just bullshit.

Because one has nothing to do with the other...

...and Efficiency has little to no correlation to quality.

Only that there are no good 80plus bronze right now because making it good and gold cost about the same.

And most 80plus Bronze are shit anyway...

Still you have to look at the model you want to buy/recommend.

You can't do some general recommendations a la "at least 80plus Unobtanium" "get Flamebird PSU".

Every (or at least) most "reputable Brands" also have pretty bad PSU in their lineup, so that's really not an option either.

in the defence of the poor psu tho. ive been using a computer with AMD A4-4000 + GTX 750ti 2GB for five years now. the case I got for $25 and it had a 500w PSU built in. (Chinese case) over the span of five years I have only once cleaned my case, (it was so frightening). well its mostly because I was a 12 year old tech noob who didn't know any shit. anyway. haven't run into any problem with that PSU tho. so I am a bit confused. (I am still using that PC and will upgrade next month after my Exam ends :3 ) @Stefan Payne @OrionFOTL  @Daniel644

what are the problems that I could face with such a PSU tho?

Some recognizable problems include shutting down the entire computer when the PSU is hit with a transient load spike from the graphics card.

Less identifiable problems include poor voltage regulation, which will shorten the lifespan of VRMs on motherboard and graphics card.

Problems affecting the PSU itself are lowest quality fan which is the first thing to break, and the PSU doesn't have overtemperature protection so when the fan fails the PSU can overheat, won't shutdown to protect itself, and blow up some diode or transistor.

It also doesn't use really durable parts inside, so they may fail prematurely. It also doesn't include important protections such as OCP, so if there's a short on the motherboard, drive or graphics card, the PSU will destroy them or burn the cables.

The store has the wrong photo, because Antec Neo Eco 550M doesn't look like that. So you don't know which Antec power supply you actually get.

Any other stores with power supplies?

ucc-bd.com (i actually know the owner of this shop so I'll get discounts if i buy from this one)
