Why doesn't the 240Hz BenQ XL2546 come with freesync or g-sync support ? Is tearing a possibility ? Help me make a buying decision.

Usually they only work up to a certain refresh rate. Freesync depends on the monitor but will work 48hz-144hz or something around that. G-sync usually works better in the low range and up to 165hz range. A 240hz monitor is probably for e-sports and adaptive sync technology adds latency which wouldn't be ideal. You can't really tell 144hz or 240hz. I would just get the best 144hz monitor instead

Manufacturers can choose to put either G-Sync, FreeSync or none in their monitors. It seems like BenQ decided not to include any in this monitor

As @BuckGup mentioned, freesync and gsync dont support such a high refresh rate. I would suggest you get a 144hz monitor with gysnc / freesync as the difference is minimal, even in competitive games (in my personal experience).
