Best cooler for i5 9600k?

chi_chi_

Hey guys,

So I am thinking about getting an i5 9600k, which means I will want to overclock it. I was wondering, whats the best cooler (I put this in air cooler cuz you probably won't find a water cooler for my budget.) Speaking of budget, I would like to pay a maximum of around 75 usd. Perferably black to fit my build but I guess noctua works too.

I'd recommend the Thermalright Macho Rev. B or Scythe Mugen 5.

I'm using the fractal design meshify c mini dark tg.

As for ram, im using g.skill aegis ddr4 at 3000 mhz

Depending on how much you prefer to spend, good options include:

@WoodenMarker I'm actually thinking about getting the dark rock pro 4, it's very pricy but I can afford it and my friend has it, he has an amazing OC on it.

The DRP4 performs similarly to the Macho Rev. B but is great if you want an extremely quiet cooler. That being said, the Macho Rev. B is still pretty quiet.

Ok thanks.

How much do u think I can  OC with that cooler. Specs linked above

It depends on your luck with the silicon lottery but I'm guessing ~4.8ghz.

what the silicon lottery?

When it comes to overclocking processors, every CPU is different. Imperfections during fabrication cause each CPU to have different limits in terms of clock speed.
