GPU died looking at options

So long story short my  R9 390 i got when it released finally crapped out  i was debating picking up a used 1070 or something along the lines to use for now but everyone in my area wants almost 500 for a used card so im not going to spend that . also new egg got rid of the deal for 3 games with a 590  at 350  that was going to be my second option but not anymore. 

 

 

should i take a risk and get a Vega 64 off ebay or a 1070 from there cheap or hold off and wait for a sale online? other sites that offer cheaper gpu's for now the Canadian market is just horrible for gpu prices right now

What CPU do you have? What games do you play? What resolution do you play at? Those are all pretty important things to list.

i5 9600k over clocked to 5gHz i have a 1440p monitor at 144Hz as well  just upgraded everything else then my older gpu decided to die lol  i plan on picking up alot of the newer demanding games  but i paly games like tomb raider, BF5, (Osrs because i need something good to run that lol), a little bit of everything pre-ordered RE2, Athem, a few others as well

Vega 64 is definitely better optimized at certain tasks such as AutoCAD compared to GTX 1070.

what if you bought a new RTX 2060 or something like that? a new 2070 seems way above what you want to spend, but you can get the 2060 for under 500CAD

to be honest with input about AutoCAD i don't mind the extra information  i use it to do some designs for my electrical engineering classes so not a bad thing to look in to as well

price for performance is what i am looking at really if i have to drop over a grand on a new card i will but with the year just starting i dont want to throw my yearly GPU budget on something when there are alot of options that may come later on in the year lol thats what im torn about

well, if you are willing to spend the astronomical amount on either a 2080 or 2080ti, you will be set in regards to a crazy powerful GPU for a fairly long time. no offense to AMD, i don't think navi is going to be as good as they say first gen, and its going to probably very expensive. but if you want to wait for navi, then see what navi has to offer, but thats the only thing really coming in the near future.

sounds good thanks for the info ive been torn waiting on navi and i dont have high hopes so ill be looking in to the 2080 or ti thanks for the info

personally, i have the 2080ti, its a retardedly overpowered card. it is heavily bottlenecked by my 9700k at 1080p resolution (even when ingame graphics are cranked up so high that even AA is maxed) 

 

in games like overwatch, just cause 3, i never go above 10% gpu usage with maxed graphics, but still hit 300fps. 

 

in GTAV, with AA on maxed, i hit only 140fps (i think thats the CPU's fault again...)

newegg didnt get rid of the 3 free games withe the 590 and the 590 is 259 for a lot of them....where are you guys seeing it higher and with no games?
