Its very weird because the PC can boot into windows occasionally but only in like 1/30 attempts and it can only reach the post screen in like 1/10 boots! this has left me baffled.

Hmm.. Have you tried reseating your CPU? There's a few troubleshooting steps, and it sounds like it could very well be a hardware issue if it's not able to complete POST and get into the BIOS first. I had a computer a few days ago that did the same thing, and it ended up being caused by a badly corrupted and failing hard-drive, believe it or not.

Try unplugging all non-essential devices, so this would be only: motherboard, CPU, 1 stick of RAM, power supply and anything needed just to boot to BIOS. If it fails, narrow down what the issue is: is there physical damage on the motherboard? Bent pins in the CPU tray? RAM isn't working but the other stick is? Try troubleshooting this way. Add one thing to the system once it's certain that you have known good parts, and build your way back up until something doesn't work.

Hello everyone i have been trying for 2 days now to fix a boot loop with my PC but cant get it to work i have tried everything

-switching power supply

-updating bios

-re seating everything even the CMOS battery

-plugging into different wall plug socket to make sure that im not overdrawing power from the wall

My specs are as listed if this helps!

-(Graphics card) GTX 1060

-(CPU) i5 2500

-(Motherboard) Gigabyte GA Z68X UD4 B3

Attempt Windows' integrated startup repair if you have an installation or recovery disc source.

Is this a new computer? How many sticks of RAM are you running? Have you tried only one?

Have you tried wiping cmos etc.? Tried with alternate HDD / SSD?

Can you go into slightly more detail? Are we talking about a Windows boot loop, or that the computer can't properly POST? If it's Windows, there's a high chance it's a software issue and not a hardware issue.

Its quite an old computer! I am running 2 sticks of ram and i have tried swapping them out for others with no success! I have cleared the CMOS multiple times by removing the battery and using the clear cmos header. I have also updated the bios. I havent tried with an alternative ssd as i thought it to be pointless if i can barely get into the bios. However occasionally i can make it into windows but if i try to restart the PC its back to square 1! This is what is so baffling!

care to explain what the loop is?

sorry for the breif explanation it is a very wierd one because sometimes i can get into windows but this is only 1/50 ish startups and 1/10 i can get to the bios its really confused me.

going to need a bit more description of the boot loop

what exactly is the behaviour? how far does it get into the boot? does it get past the bios? does it flash anything on the screen? does it show anything? does windows start to load then it reboots? there are a lot of possible issues for a bootloop. software or hardware.

When you can actually get into BIOS, go check out your boot options. When you do, make sure that your boot up option is set to full (or regular I cant remember) boot up instead of quick boot. I had this issue a while back (comp kept rebooting and couldn't get into windows), and it was due to the boot up options. Just a thought.

It is very unpredictable and it varies on how far it gets into the boot. Sometimes it gets to the bios and even windows. Sometimes it gives me an error from the bios.

hmm, that doens't sound good at all. the inconsistency you're describing leads me away from software. Software TENDS to be more consistent when it fails like that. you'll get the same behaviour at same times.

what this sounds like is hardware. And given you said you replaced your PSU twice (i'm assuming with properly specced PSU), that it's a core item. it leads me to believe possible issue with your Motherboard and could be anything from a short between your board and case, to a capacater that just can't seem to hold enough juice anymore.
