Is there any benefit in getting the RTX2060 FE compared to other AIB's for the same $350 price?

aiai

FIrst post here, was wondering if there is a benefit/ difference in getting the FE RTX2060 as opposed to lets say the Zotac one for $350? The FE one even has tax which bumps it up to around $370 or so for me. Thank you.

The Zotac one is most likely going to have a better cooler.

Most likely a better cooler. But considering the FE ones have went to open-air or whatever style coolers, I don't know AIB's custom designs within the same size have a big advantage anymore.

AIB will probably be much easier to take apart if you gotta repaste though, the 2060 needs a heat gun and all sorts of stuff to take it apart.

I found at least one reviewer that took it apart and mentioned needing nothing of the sort: https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/NVIDIA/GeForce_RTX_2060_Founders_Edition/4.html

The 2060 is not the 2080. It can be done without heat. Also most people never repaste. This forum alone is proof of that. An easy way around that is to upgrade in four years from an already midrange card.

I actually like the FE better IMO, its so sexyyy

I second that, the FE cooler looks WAY more classy, the Zotac one as well as the others has that "gamer-ish" edgy look that's just... ugly IMO

Yes, I'm aware of this video and what Steve Burke found. However I found at least one other reviewer who tore the card down and described nothing of the sort of needing a heat gun to take it apart. So that basically tells me what Steve Burke found was only in his case so far. I would like to see other people who can verify Steve Burke's findings before we can call it conclusive that the RTX 2060 FE is "impossible to open."

Besides, did he actually buy it or was it a press card?

Probably a press card, they must've fixed it for the retail ones I guess. And I'm not saying the FE is bad because of that, it's gorgeous and cools well AFAIK, I really like the look. It's just something to consider when comparing it to an AIB card.

Judging by the review date and when it was released, yeah I'd say it's a press card. Besides that, there's no real benefit to gluing a video card together unlike say gluing a phone together.
