Linus' infactuation with AW upgradeability

ZDevilInside

I just watched Linus' review of the new Alienware and how it has an i9-9900k.  He then comments about how it is able to be upgraded.  Both of these things are things that Clevo/Sager have been able to do for ages.  Why doesn't Linus review a Clevo and show the world just how powerful laptops can be?

That's the same thing I had in mind when watching the video. Clevo/Sager has been around such a long time and offer a lot of upgradability, so one would presume Linus is also familiar with them. Maybe it's just that he hasn't gotten his hands on a Clevo/Sager and isn't willing to spend all the money to buy one? That's a reasonable reason, IMHO.

Hand, n. A singular instrument worn at the end of the human arm and commonly thrust into somebody’s pocket.

This is new to Alienware specifically. Alienware(Dell, by extension) is known for having proprietary or other parts that don't hold up to upgrades too well.

I think the desktop CPU think is the only TRULY new thing to Alienware. I have a 2014 Alienware 18 that has a socketed (although mobile) CPU, and two MXM card slots.

Previous generations of 18 and 17in Alienware notebooks were similar as well.

Desktop: i9 11900k, 32GB DDR4, 4060 Ti 8GB 🙂
