Build Considerations

Mind_001

Been thinking about this for MONTHS and keep adding things, swapping things, deleting things.

I want an AMD computer. I'm sick of Intel, nothing good is coming out, just rebranding. So here's my gis.

Thermaltake Core P3 TG Black ATX

GIGABYTE X470 AORUS GAMING 5 WIFI AM4

AMD RYZEN 5 2600 6-Core 3.4 GHz

Thermaltake Floe AIO Riing RGB 360 TT Premium Edition

CORSAIR Vengeance RGB Pro 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 DRAM DDR4 2933

XFX Radeon RX 580 GTS Black Edition 1405 MHz OC+, 8GB 256-bit GDDR5

Thermaltake Toughpower Grand RGB 1200W

Adds up to: $1,421.51

Reason for Thermaltake? They look nice together. I've seen several builds using it.

Case is the only one I can find that is 100% open air. All others are trying to be them.

Board seems good for the price it is. Not really what i was looking for, but it has RGB, too.

Friend told me the Ryzen 5 2600 was the best money per performance.

Again, Thermaltake AIO for flair. Got the big 3-fan to show it off in style.

Why 32GB? Why not? I run several VM's. At 16GB now, I'm not endangered in using it all, but it is better to have some more. RGB looks nice in this setup.

RX580, because I do not need extra juice than my 750Ti, but a nice transition to something newer.

Toughpower because this is on the PSU recomendated list for Tier 1. TT is also the only manufacturer that makes RGB PSU's, Bling bling. And this 1200W should last me for several builds to come. 10 YEAR warranty, too...

Any good or bad decisions in my pickings? If any questions ask. I'm an open book. Parts can be switched.

I went this over with a lot of knowledgeable computer builders, and I think I got it down pretty good. You?

mobo is overkill

never any need for 1200W psu

Also what will you be using it for?

Why not save your money and buy a used 4th gen intel, I know you dont like intel but those systems are so fucking cheap at the moment! You get it all, including a legit windows o/s for like $200 all in, i7 even! Wait it out for 5 yrs on that system then buy your system there for $700! if not $400!

Refurbished: DELL Desktop PC 9020 SFF Intel Core i7 4th Gen 4790 (3.40 GHz) 8 GB 500GB HDD Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

Overkill, how so? I need the 2 dedicated M.2 slots. I have 2 M.2 PCIe NVME sticks going in there. ASUS AND ASRock only have 1 or says there is 2, but "technically"

Quote

* The M.2_2 socket shares PCIe clock with PCIeX1_1, when PCIeX1_1 or PCIeX1_3 are occupied, M.2_2 only can support SATA mode.

And for the PSU, you can't beat the warranty.

M.2 is nothing special

You been hiding under a rock for all your life? M.2 is the answer these days. They are even faster than SATA SSD's...

He didn't really make an argument, but I'll lay it out.

NVMe is fast as fuck, don't get me wrong. It's amazing, but most consumers don't need that speed. It's better suited for people who need to transfer files that fast, like video editors.

Also you're being too broad, not all m.2 SSD's are really fast. A lot of m.2 SSDs use the SATA interface, not NVMe. That makes it a tiny SATA SSD (you know this but I'm just clarifying).

Also, 1200w is very unneeded. Almost any consumer doesn't use that much power. There are plenty of 10 year warranty PSU's that you don't have to get 1200w for....

so much so that you're willing to spend more money than an equal speed stata setup that had more space and also more speed....... er wait.

PSU is overkill. Parts aren't getting more and more power hungry, over time they get less demanding power wise.

AMD is the king of rebranding, btw ;)

If you're into overclocking, go with the 2600, but if you just want the performance without sitting there tweaking things, get the 2600x.

There are loads of PSUs that offer a similar warranty with a wattage you'll actually make use of.

M.2 is a form factor, it has nothing to do with speed.

Most people won't see a difference.

I have 2x M.2 cards on me right now. Samsung 960 EVO 250GB, and Samsung 970 EVO 500GB.

I already have M.2, I'm not considering between SSD and M.2.

As for the PSU, can you recommend something?
