I used to be pretty into computers but eventually just lost interest and didn't have time well it's been a while and I got this old computer from a family friend and honestly I don't even know what kind of components are in it, basically her problem was windows wouldnt come up so it was a hard drive problem I took that out and got one off eBay to throw in there well I put it all together and I plug in the DVI and it just says no signal and turns off and for some reason every time it does this when turning the monitor on, the cpus fan and gpu fan do blow but obviously something could still be messed up I tried replugging the cable and re doing it multiple times for the DVI and tried looking in the computer if I unplugged something and I'm.pretty certain I didn't, all I know is the computer was a prebuilt by ASUS and so is the monitor I don't know what to do or to think of to try, please help!

And yes I did try the monitor on a functioning computer and works fine!

Oh hm I gotcha I will try a VGA next but also it worked with the old hard drive and now it doesn't when I put the new one in?

Just a shot in the dark, it could be the wrong SATA interface since you said the PC is older. I'm pretty sure they're supposed to be backwards compatible, but don't take my word for it, look it up.

Also, RayMurr probably didn't see what you said. Quote someone by pressing the arrow circled in the pic I have
