HDMI to DisplayPort adaptor not supporting resolutions over 1080p

kingmustard

I have a HDMI cable going from my 2560x1440 AOC Q2577PWQ monitor into a HDMI-to-DisplayPort adaptor, which is then going into the DisplayPort port on my video card.

However, I am not able to select anything above 1920x1080.

I have noticed that almost all HDMI to DisplayPort cables also don't go over 1080p, according to the listing descriptions.

Can anyone please shed some light on this?

That might just be the resolution of your tv or monitor, or it could be the ports are not new enough to support higher res, or your cable is not new enough.
