Seasonic M12II Evo 520W

ParaT2060

So everyone is saying that 450 watts is enough for my build?

according to https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-radeon-rx-580-review,5020-6.html

The rx 580 i chose uses 237 watts under full load.. + 65watts cpu (r5 2600) and what about case fans(4x120mm)

and lets add 50 watts headroom thats 352 watts.. Is this the right way to calculate a psu??? bc then i don't understand why every online calculator recommends 480-520 watt psu...

BTW: I use a sapphire rx580 nitro+ 8gb It uses 1*8pin+1*6pin connectors

because they overrate everything. most psu calculators are from psu makers themselves. i would say 100 for your 2600, 240 for your gpu, and about 50 watts for your hdd, fans, ssd, cooler and memory. that would make about 390 watts, so you have enough headroom left to run it not on full power. i don't see why you wouldn't run it on the cxm

Because everyone one you’re using is just the same OuterVision one underneath. PSU makers profit higher from selling larger power supplies.

Try the BeQiet PSU calculator, or PCPartPicker calculator.

But you’re better off without a calculator. Find out how much your CPU + GPU consumes at load. Add 50w.

the CX450m you have is fine.

it's old... like 10 years design old. I would recommend it if it were like the vs series, cheap, but only for replacing the psu in a old system, but for 60 bucks...

Yes, unfortunately its old and should be the last choice to buy it like me.
I had a very limited budget otherwise i wouldnt buy it.

Even then there are better options available...

The S12II performs quite badly these days and gets beaten by almost everything you can buy on the market.

Even EVGA B-Series should be a bit better. Well at least OCP should be there.

All the things the S12II does not have.

Does that mean my system is in danger 'cause of using m12ii 520w?

depends on the situation.

There is no black or white.

Thing is that there are some protections missing on the M12II 520W such as OCP on any rail or UVP on 12V.

So if something goes wrong, the PSU is reluctant to switch off, wich might cause some bad shit to happen...
