Gsync / freesync EX3501r / Agon 35" ugc6 black edition

Kenjo

As the topic states... should i go for a Gsync or just get a freesync now that Nvidia supposedly supports freesync ?

Price difference is quite steeeeeep ... and the Benq is 100hz while the agon is 120hz...

Benq has fake hdr while Agon has not ;)

Im really really conflicted and dishing out 890€ agon to be dissapointed isnt really an option ;)

I have an Agon that I bought early last year. It does the job and is nice enough. But I would have preferred an Asus/Acer/LG/Samsung. The color reproduction isn't that great either. Not a bad buy, but I wouldn't expect top quality either.

As for Gsync vs Freesync, I would save yourself some money and go the Freesync route. Yes, there is a chance Gsync may not work properly but for the price increase you have to pay for Gsync, a little screen tearing isn't that intrusive during game play IMO.

Was screen tearing even one of the issues? I thought it had to do with color warping, screen flickering, and sometimes just not really working at all.

Technology like Freesync and Gsync are used to avoid screen tearing as well as other anomalies/artifacts that can occur as the GPU feeds images to the display. These variable refresh technologies synchronize the GPU and the display to avoid these issues. (or that is how I understand it).

You have a 1080ti right?

Are you looking at any other options are those the only 2?

I used sites that list comparisons like this (dutch) for all 3440x1440, +100Hz, 1800R+, 34"+ and if you'd go for freesync at least here there are some cheaper options with the same specs but Gsync is still better than freesync, Gsync will work from 1hz all the way to the maximum, freesync has a range from 40hz+ so if it dips below that freesync won't help anymore.

I understand that, I guess it makes more sense now that I actually thought about it, so tearing could happen as a result of compatibility. I don't remember them bringing it up though, so I think all the cards worked with the cards, it was just a matter of coloring and the flickering/blinking thing.

It's probably just a good idea to buy from the list of 12 verified monitors

From what ive seen the Agon has near perfect colour reproduction if you calibrate it ;) as for screen tearing that is a MUST to vanish.. cant watch a football game where the players / ball tears in half

Have you tried putting v-sync on your current monitor?

Only found the 12 monitors that are "G sync certified" but can't seem to find the "400" they tested and not approved for certification maybe wait a little till users can test running Gsync on Freesync monitors that are not certified.

Did you calibrate with a tool? I tried calibrating using various downloadable tools and "eye-balling it" tests. Personally I don't think the colors are great on mine. But that could also just be my opinion.

You could also be unlucky with the quality of the screen etc.... but basically when calibrating your going by your eyes not what ohers preceive as perfect... so if your eyesight has a slight colour deviation to the "norm" then you have to adjust for that.... we dont all see colours in the same shade ;)

This is saving money.. the EX3501R working with Nvidia Gsync ;)
