question about upcoming drivers for freesync and nvidia cards

So, I'm pretty hyped about the upcoming drivers for nvidia users that let them enable adaptive sync, but as I was reading, I got a little confused about compatibility. Will the drivers only be for the 12 monitors that Nvidia themselves tested? Or will the drivers let me use adaptive sync on my "non-verified" display.

From what I recall seeing, the drivers will enable AdaptiveSync support on Pascal and Turing cards. For the supported monitors, you don't need to do anything and it will get enabled by itself. For unsupported monitors you have to manually turn it on.

yeah that's my understanding as well. Nvidia is testing monitors and any that meet their quality/stability standards will automatically enable adaptive refresh by default but you can still manually go into Nvidia Control Panel and enable it on any Freesync monitor and cross your fingers that it doesn't crash.

yeah me too... I have been looking for a solid upgrade to my Asus PG348Q (3440 x 1440 100Hz Gsync) but there isn't really anything with the same resolution but better panel, HDR, 144Hz+ on the Gsync side yet. 

I think there are already some Freesync models that meet what I'm after so we'll have to see how good Nvidia's Freesync support ends up being.
