wds240g1g0b vs wds240g2g0b

iamashwin99

I am looking to buy a m.2 sata SSD for my laptop. I  found 2 models WDS240G1G0A & WDS240G2G0A from WD Green ssd. But not sure what is the difference between both the items although the prices are almost the same. After a little googling I came to this site WD Green 240GB (2016) vs Green 240GB (2018)
Userbenchmark Effective SSD Speed: 54.7% vs 44.2%
WD Green 240GB (2016)  - 741st / 976
WD Green 240GB (2018)  - 812th / 976

Which shows that WDS240G1G0A although being older seems faster.

Can someone help me in deciding which one to buy?

WD Greens are ultra low end SSDs without any cache on board. I'd personally look at the Crucial MX500, Samsung 860 Evo or WD Blue instead. Going bottom of the barrel is never a great idea.

why wd green specific? what would be your budget and location?

WD green is the cheapest one I've found at Rs3200 (about 46USD). I use my laptop mainly for college work so I thought WD Green might be sufficient.

If that's all you're willing to spend, sure. Go ahead.
