Just bought a new prebuilt computer. Out of the box the standard (blue) monitor cord didnt work for my monitor. Just blackscreen like it dosent exist other than the power. Went and bought the HDMI cable version and it works fine now. Is there any fix to this? I literally didnt touch it and it never worked.

Did you plug the DVI into the video card, or the motherboard video outs? Did you change the input on the monitor to DVI, instead of the default hdmi?

I only see your reply if you @ me.

A blue cable typically is VGA, not DVI. An analog video standard, where as modern implementations of DVI and HDMI (as well as Displayport) are digital.

Is this a machine with a dedicated GPU or a built in one? If the former; are you sure you are plugging in your cable to your GPU and not the video output of the motherboard (the built in video gets turned off when there is a dedicated GPU plugged into the system).

Do you perhaps have a picture of the back of the PC, or a component list?
