I have 3 rigs, the 1st one is my main, It's a Ryzen 2700x @4.25ghz all cores, GTX 1080, 480gb SSD, I use this as my main rig for basically everything, but after Christmas, My brother let me have his old Gigabyte BRIX with 8GB of ram 128GB SSD and a i5 (4570r i think),

And my other PC which has an i5 7500 (B250 board) 16GB of ram, and an RX 480 with a 480gb ssd,

I have the RX480 build hooked up to my 4k TV and i've got a razer turret, but i feel like i'm wasting these Computers potential, we have really slow internet speed (2 Broadband lines at 20mbps each) so i was considering doing a caching/steam library server, and with the BRIX doing something like a Minecraft server, I do have a static IP, just only 3mbps per line on the upload

you could fold or set up the servers you want. you could run a NAS if you want that too

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Would a server not have to run 24/7 as well?

If your gonna do somethiong that runs 24/7 (e.g. Folding, server) do it on the BRIX, as that barely uses any power

PC: Ryzen 9 5900x | RTX 3080Ti | Asus Prime B450-PLUS | ASUS ROG Strix 1000W Gold | 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM | 512GB NVME SSD + 2TB NVME + 6TB WD BLACK | Windows 10 Pro + Windows 7 Ultimate

Laptop: MacBook Pro 15" 2018 | i9-8950HK | Radeon Pro 560X | 32gb RAM | 1tb SSD

iPhone 13 Pro Max | 256GB | iOS 16.5 with Dopamine 2 + Trollstore 2

@Crunchy Dragon

The servers would only run the same time my desktop will, the BRIX on the other hand can run 24/7, it just has thermal issues

Fix the thermal issues and fold on the Brix?

@Crunchy Dragon

It's thermal throttled since the day we took it out of the box, i was going to ziptie a wraith cooler, the blower style fan is riveted to the mobo, so i haven't been able to figure out how to get it off

Is your basement usually cold? That'll really help temperatures.

We don't have basements, but i do keep it closer to the window and the ambient around there is 18c

EDIT: @Crunchy Dragon

I think it starts to throttle around 80c, because it hits around 80 and the core speed tanks

And it still thermal throttles?

Can you get a fan to blow over it or something?

i have a mini box fan blowing directly on it, it seems to suck in air through the bottom and blows it out of a hole, I cleaned it out using a high PSI compressor earlier and let it sit for about a day, no changes

i was going to see if i could get it to run something small and single core, that's why i was thinking of maybe a minecraft server for my brother
