Can't install OS/Windows 10 on M.2 Samsung 970 EVO SSD

chrizzo

Hi ?
I'm having a problem with the M.2 Samsung 970 EVO SSD. I'm not able to install Windows on it or make it able to run my OS on it.
I have unplugged all my all disks I can see the Samsung 970 Evo in the bios and everything looks fine. I boot from a USB with Windows 10 installed, I get to choose and install on the M.2 970 EVO. But after the install, I just restart and make me do the same thing over again. It's like the Samsung 970 EVO won't boot with Windows installed.
I have tried so many things, but can't still not find out the problem. I really hope someone can help.?

The only thing I think cut be the problem is that my motherboard is not working with M.2 (NVME) therefore I'm not able to run my OS on it. But that does not make sense for me, because i can still use the M.2 Samsung 970 EVO as a normal harddisk when i have windows installed on my old (normal) SSD (Kingston).

-Info about my pc and ECT.

Motherboard: Tuf-z370-plus

M.2 Samsung 970 EVO installed on M.2_1 slot.

I have the newest version of Winodows installed on a USB.

You need to unplug the USB stick or change boot sequence in BIOS after the installation is completed.

@chrizzo

that is very strange... try enabling CSM?

go to Advanced Mode on the bottom, then to Boot and you'll see CSM there

oh it worked? and you dont need Intel Rapid Storage, it might be helpful for you but it doesn't matter if you have it or not

Hello!

chrizzo I'm facing the same problem....

Could you describe in more details what you have done to run the Win10 after install.

I only get black screen, or to BIOS directly...

Try booting with the USB flash drive, but instead of installing go into repair/troubleshooting mode.

Open a command prompt and check if anything has actually been written to the SSD. If there isn't, and you have a spare storage device (even a small SATA HDD will do), and try installing on that instead.

If there is, follow these instructions from step 6. Shut down the PC, remove the USB flash drive, and see if it'll boot this time.
