I need help

I'm new to Pc and everything, so I bought a pre-built gaming pc about half a year ago and so I'm very confused on how to dust a computer, how to reapply thermal paste, and basically maintain and take care of my pc. I've tried searching up things and forums but it just confuses me more.

 

I just need help knowing about my pc and stuff.

There should be a fairly straight forward way to remove the side panels of your case. Post up what case you have and we can help. Once removed use some canned compressed air to blow out heat sinks, fans, case ventilation, etc. Remove any dust filters and clean them out as well. 

 

Don't worry about thermal paste unless you're having temp issues right now.

Before taking wires out or messing with anything, make a nice clear picture of the system to know where plug everything afterwards.

 

The way I clean my PC is fairly simple. Take out graphics card, all case fans and and filters to clean them clean them with pain brush.

 

For everything else, I usually use compress air and vacuum cleaner to collect all flying dust. from CPU cooler and hard to reach places.

 

 

Don't worry about taking everything apart. If you will get confused, you can always post picture here and we will help you put everything back together.

Watch some YouTube videos on what you want to do. But the best way to remove dust is to buy a can of compressed air, you do not want to wipe down components with a cloth that can introduce electro static, that can kill components.

First forget about paste. You only need to do that when switching cooler, or after 4-5 years of use and noticeably higher temps than what they used to be.

 

Basic cleaning is done by wiping dust off filters and any mesh your case has. You can do this weekly to monthly, depending on how dusty house you are in. Insides don't need to be cleaned that often. I clean inside maybe 2-4 times a year. For that you need either canned air or something to blow air with. You can have vacuum pipe near to suck flying dust. Just blow around inside the case and dust will be airborne. For fans and some surfaces use either soft cloth or soft paper towel. Be careful not to tear those as they do tend to leave fibers (fire hazard).

 

This is what I usually do, and its enough. People are way too paranoid about dust in here.
