Random shutoffs, restarts

Khaleesinikov

About a week ago or even less, my system started randomly shutting off, like completely losing power and then turning itself back on.

My cpu is mildly oc'd but it has been for a year. This started after moving into a new case that is a fsp cmt 510 (has a pcb at the back that connects all fans to a single molex connector).

PSU is an evga 100 w1 600W

my motherboard is roughly 6 years old.

Yesterday, same thing happened but it didn't turn itself back on and i was unable to turn it on via power on button.

The mobo draws power from the psu because a little led lights up on it, and link/activity leds are on, yet nothing happens. After 5 minutes i could turn it on.

Today i got home from school and was unable to turn it on. and after 20 minutes it turned on by itself without me doing anything.

I doubt that this is an issue due to OC. Either my psu is failing to deliver enough, or there is a shorting issue somewhere in the case but i can't get to it.

(i added 3 lgb strips but that shouldn't make my psu not deliver enough)

Its possible it is an issue with your power supply, but it could also be a board issue. a board that old could potentially have components like capacitors fail if it didn't use very high quality ones when made. it could also be the oc even if it has been working for a year, I would clear the cmos and see if the issue persists

That PSU is pretty much junk. Might want to step up to a better quality PSU.

If you're on a budget, the CX450/CX450M/CX550/CX550M will do nicely.

If you want real quality:

- Corsair TX550M

- Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550W

- Cooler Master V550

- Corsair RM550x

PC Specs - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D MSI B550M Mortar - 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB DDR4-3600 @ CL16 - ASRock RX7800XT 660p 1TBGB & Crucial P5 1TB Fractal Define Mini C CM V750v2 - Windows 11 Pro

can confirm this one is good. i've been running one in my gaming system for about a year. it's really quiet, and has never given me any issues.
