Help installing windows 10 on a m.2

Hello people,

I am building a pc and am having issues with installing windows 10 on a samsung 970 evo m.2. The issue is that it that the w10 installation can't find the ssd.

I am using a asrock z390 taichi (not ultimate) motherboard. The motherboard has no issues finding the ssd and showing how much many gigs it has. The bios is the default version, haven't been able to update the it since i don't have a computer.

If you need any additional info, please let me know.

Is it the only drive in the PC?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

Yes, plus a USB with w10 installation

The motherboard likely came with a driver CD, put that in your PC and boot into the W10 setup. What it sounds like is Windows 10 doesnt have a driver for your M.2 slots in your motherboard. If you dont have a CD/DVD drive in your system, get a USB 3.0 one off Amazon

Brands I wholeheartedly reccomend (though do have flawed products): Apple, Razer, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, bequiet!, Noctua, Fractal, GSkill (RAM only)

I'm having the same issue with a Gigabyte AB350 Gaming ver 1.0 MOBO and Ryzen 2200G CPU. The Windows installer is unable to detect the 970 EVO SSD in the m.2 while Linux on the other hand was installed in less than a minute and shows overwhelming performance.

HOWEVER! When I've enabled AMD RAID in the BIOS, the SSD showed up and was able to install Windows 10. In the Device List I can see the SSD, but as part of an AMD RAID, therefore the Samsung Magican is also unable to detect it. And I don'T know if this is direct result of that, but Windows seems pretty slow compared to Linux. I mean as slow as my regular SATA SSD in my notebook, even tho benchmarks pointed out 1300 writing and 1800 reading sequential speed. But on 4K, it was ugh.... ugly slow. So my fear it has something to do with the RAID controller. I've tried to install the drivers when I had the system in non-RAID mode from the MOBO CD, but Windows didn't seem to accept any of them. I mean, yeah, they were showing up, even the RAID driver. But none of them made the SSD available for the installer.

Anyone has any update on this issue? This MOBO BIOS is realy messy too. I don't like it. ASUS is more plain and understandable...

Okay, guys after a week I solved the issue. It was the installation version that didn't work, neither of the two options at Microsofts website worked.

Had to use a much older version of windows 10 install, which worked without any issues.

Hope this helps anyone with similar issues.
