Swapping out my motherboard currently running an msi b450m bazooka looking to get either an x370 gaming pro carbon from msi or an asus crosshairs VI hero I had a 980 pro carbon in my old am3 system and absolutely loved it not sure what to go with here anyone have experience with either one?

I wouldn't get 300 series msi. you could get the x470. here some x370/x470 alternatives I like from cheapest to most expensive (including the crosshair)

Why are you swapping out your Motherboard??

What's wrong with it?

 

If the Board still kinda works, I recommend waiting 4 weeks until the 500 Series is announced.

And see how the Compatibility of the upcoming 7nm Parts is...

300 series MSI boards on AM4 really sucks, B450M Mortar to X370 Carbon is a straight downgrade from overclocking perspective.

 

As for whether the Crosshair VI or even a mobo upgrade makes sense, it depends on why you're doing it.

Most likely going for x470 msi pro carbon board, I have a ryzen 5 2600 now for lan to go ryzen 7 at some point

future Ryzen 7 seemed to have 12 or 16 cores, you want those? I'd still wait tbh, what happened to Z390 (a brand shipping out boards with massively beefy VRMs for cheap) might happen to X570, also we still don't know how power hungry Zen 2 is when overclocked and how far it can overclock.
