I recently scored a second hand computer with a 5930k with 4x4 DDR4 2666 RAM in quad channel. My current system is a 4790k that is currently clocked at 4.7GHz with 2x8 DDR3 2133 RAM in dual channel.

I don't have the 5930 system yet but will be getting it soon. My question is which system would have better gaming performance? From what I understand the 4790k overclocks higher but is obviously 2c/4t down on the 5930k. I have found information on the 5820k being slightly slower in gaming than the 4770k but the video was a bit older and with the trend towards high core support from modern games would this still hold true?

Thanks.

It varies a lot from title to title. 4 cores with hyperthreading is not long for this world, but the single threaded advantage is good in the moment. Of course, you'll have both systems so you can test for yourself

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Basically the system Im buying is a price too good to pass up. I'm just trying to decide which to use myself and which to pass to my wife.

keep the 5930K

clock wise, once you OC the 5930K you aren't really giving up much

and you get two extra cores, there must be some games you play that will benefit from that

Yeah I know.
