Hi,

I have strix vega 64, i7 4790, 16GB ram powered with thermaltake smart se 730w.

On wattman i changed p6 to 1630 and p7 to 1660, with 1125mv p6 and 1150mv p7 and 50% power increase.

I noticed on desktop gpu is running in a good speed 1655mhz, but when gaming the clock speed drops to 1400+ max 1560mhzrarley resching 1550mhz, why is that? Why can i run the clock at steady 1650mhz or so? Even though i get frame drops and not 100% gpu usage!

Pic shows max speed while in game main menu and desktop and the line on 18:16:51 is while core gaming and not the game main menuIMG_20181204_181959.thumb.jpg.163a60e6f3e164472eaffe99f86409f8.jpg

This is the GPU automatically downclocking itself due to temperatures. Not getting 100% usage is different, and can be caused by a number of different things.

If your GPU can't run at 100% it also doesn't need to run at the full clock speed. It's not unthinkable that more CPU heavy games will show a bottleneck on your 4 year old i7 even if it's not a huge one.
