Do I need more power?

Hello all,

 

I was thinking of upgrading my PSU to an EVGA - 1000W ATX /EPS 80 Plus Gold Modular (on sale this week at MicroCenter for $90). Right now I'm on a Corsair CX650. I was messing around with the Outer Vision power consumption calculator and after entering my setup it says I'm drawing 671 WATTS at 90% load. How is this possible? Is my system in jeopardy right now? Specs below:

 

i7-9700k - OC'd to 5.0 Ghz 1.350 VCore

Asus Rog Strix 1080Ti - Oc'd 2090 Ghz

2 SSds

1 HDD

1 M.2

16 gb 3466 RAM

6 140mm Noctua fans

1 Corsair H110i AIO

Power consumption calculators are almost always wrong. Get a power meter for your wall outlet and see how much you're drawing.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

 

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

 

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I don’t think that the power draw is accurate...

I agree power draw is inaccurate, if you did want to upgrade your psu. the sweet spot is usually between 45-70% utilization depending on the model of the psu.

 

also not daisy chaining the power to your gpu will yield better stability and/or performance from the gpu

Use pc partpicker it might give you a more accurate result from what i know 650W seems pretty good for that system but maybe get a power meter like what fasauceome said, its a good idea ti make sure you arent about to kill you pc lol

Yeah it seems made up. I don't see that system taking over 700 watts when my 8086k + 1070 system draws around 300 at load.

sometimes they look like a splitter. sometimes looks like it runs to one 6-8 pin then continues to another 6-8 pin connector.

you should be fine tho. 

im running:

i5 -6500 @4.3ghz

1080 ftw

16gb rgb ram

5 fans 4 rgb

m.2 ssd

1tb hdd.

240x deepcool rgb aio

rgb strafe keyboard g502 mouse 

and power my phone and vape via usb while all at the same time

with no issues

on a 650w psu

if anything I think 750 800 850w psu would be optimal do to the that the 1080 ti can hit 300w by itself.

but a 1000w psu you would get diminishing returns on you purchase

This system should consume around 500w during FULL LOAD.

 

It is always a good thing get a good quality PSU, but quality ain't wattage, a 1000w PSU is completely needless.

which would put him in the sweet spot for max efficiency for a 750-850w depending on the model as explained before.

found the video I was looking for, for you.

he does use the term pig tail, but it just another term for daisy chain.
