New Build, need advice.

Hi everyone,

I want to upgrade from my stone-age pc to a new set up. It will be used for gaming(AAA titles, League, CSGO, MHW) and some programming.

My budget is 1.300€-1.500€ would like to keep it between that unless there are good arguments for going a bit over.

I will be buying the parts in dec/jan in germany.

CPU: I will definitely upgrade the CPU once the new Ryzen CPU's are released. Might also buy a R7 2700 for now instead of the R5.

Motherboard: I have no idea what to look for here while keeping in mind that I want to upgrade the CPU in the near future. There are so many different versions and prices vary a lot. Won't be OC'ing, maybe if more power is needed.

PSU: That is more of a placeholder tbh. I'm clueless here as well. A quite PSU would be nice.

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

If you are going with 1080p or 1440p 60hz the Ryzen 2600 will be fine, however, if you want to do high refresh rate that CPU will start to bottleneck you. 

 

It is my understanding that x470 motherboards aren't worth it unless you are doing multi GPU (SLI is great if you like wasting money), or need a ton of usb 3.0 ports. A B450 motherboard with a decent VRM will still be able to overclock and you could spend the money you saved on a Ryzen 7 which should help the 2070 if you want to do high refresh rate gaming. 

 

If you won't be OCing you are definitely wasting money going with X470 over B450

In terms of a PSU though get a Tier 1 or 2 PSU. Higher build quality is important. My recommendation is 650W and look at the EVGA G3 or G2, SeaSonic Focus or Prime units, and the Corsair RMx series.
