Posted January 9, 2014 http://www.theverge.com/2014/1/9/5292288/evenas-eyes-on-glasses-see-through-skin The Eyes-On unit uses a spectral approach: it pulses with four different kinds of light that are combined into a single composite image, making veins stand out against the skin. The glasses are designed to work wirelessly, although the unit we tested was plugged in with bulky physical cables. The image of the veins appeared very clearly on a connected tablet, which also showed vital signs. It was also projected in my field of vision, as if it were Google Glass, so that the nurse can see it overlaid on top of the actual body. I found this image a bit difficult to see clearly, but I'm no trained professional. This could definitely help out nurses and doctors and anybody else who uses X-Ray technology to better do their job. For example, with a regular X-Ray machine, the person would have to stand completely still so it that the machine can take a picture of your bones and organs and whatnot, then you have to wait for the image to process, print it out, and ya. With these, a doctor or nurse or whoever can just throw these glasses on, and then walk around the person to more easily see their patient's bones and organs and whatnot. So ya, very cool product right here. Oh, and it retails for only $10,000. COMIC SANS
 Posted January 9, 2014 This is cool, and because it uses light instead of X-rays the patient won't be exposed to harmful radiation. Who knows though might be more useful than it looks. It might be useful for deep vein thrombosis, or maybe detecting lesions in muscle tissue. Plus if it is able to be used with a dye there might be a use for it to check main arteries? EDIT: I realise this isn't likely to view that deep, which is why I thought maybe an assisting active dye. Unfortunately the old "if it aint broke" adage applies to deep vein thrombosis diagnosis. Sonograms are easier to use, cheaper, and the most effective at diagnosing DVTs. I think this basically provides a basic outline of the most superficial veins, and thus useful for phlebotomists, nurses or doctors as it applies to those without apparent veins to access or the obese. I know I could certainly use this headset as drawing blood is an art that no one wants you to practice on them AMD FX-8350 @ 4.7Ghz when gaming | MSI 990FXA-GD80 v2 | Swiftech H220 | Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 + XFX Radeon 7950 | 8 Gigs of Crucial Ballistix Tracers | 140 GB Raptor X | 1 TB WD Blue | 250 GB Samsung Pro SSD | 120 GB Samsung SSD | 750 Watt Antec HCG PSU | Corsair C70 Mil Green
