Many reboots later... the problem still persists. I turned of hibernation as someone suggested it and uninstalled some programs that i thought might be the cause. I also disabled some startup software so it is now to the bare minimum. Still no change though.

again my question

why do you have over provisioning enabled ?

because it increases the lifespan of your ssd and makes it faster

I still wonder a few things

you says That iT happende after a couple of days. So plenty of time to install a lot of things u til the disk get full ?

What happen If you do a fresh install and keep iT empty ?

dit you try to use the m.2 as boot disk ? Its faster

does iT also have That problem ?

if so ... then you definqlly want to check what you install

stuff That can do this:

backup tools

virus scanners

virusses

windows update ...

system restore points

shadow copy

basicly any program That love to run before Windows is started to gain full acces of the avaible resources and to read locked files ( bit locker ... )

then for over provosioning

seems its just allocating FREE Space to your ssd to get a bigger garbage collection ( bigger means iT need more time ) so I hope you do not have a program installed to optimize That collection to keep iT small xD

sidenote  with op I was thinking like drivespace. Or what they do with vps servers.  Putting more On iT then iT has space for

but for ssd its just free space xD

What makes you think my 'disks' are full? When did i ever state that? My drives aren't even half full.

As to 'it', I had the boot problem before. After i formatted  the pc booted normal again. But after a couple of days the problem returned, but not at every boot. Sometimes it was slow, sometimes it was fast. but after a while it got worse and now every boot is slow.

On a sidenote, not all m.2 drives are faster. Only those using nvme interface are

a screenshot of your motherboard with all devices visible ( video lan sound WiFi. Other pci ... )

screenshot of your PC with external attached hardware ( mouse keyboard usb stick WiFi usb other usb things that are plugged in at boot )

screenshot of your desktop with task manager on cpu and ram

also startup programs

txt file from speccy

so I can see what all is installed and runninh

also check diskinfo64 to check smart status and connection speed

Ok Lets debug iT more

as I can not see the boot do i not know where the loop starts

so only keyboard and mouse connected ? Your using No internet then ?

anyway

check pxe boot

check raid boot

check fast boot

check secure boot

check uefi boot

check sata boot

Check os settings ( other os instead Linux )

disable powersave

enable s5 mode

disable turbo mode

use only a single drive to boot. Disconecr other drives exept boot drive

check boot order and pit iT On the boot drive only

after That boot the pc and If iT is still slow then we can continue to debug other hardware

also I realy need That txt file from speccy to see all hardware and stuff.

Yes, no internet cable, only keyboard mouse and the boot ssd were connected.

I don't know what pxe boot is, i don't have raid installed, fast boot and secure boot are disabled, don't know what sata or uefi boot are. Powersave and s5 changed, don't seem to fix it.

You still seem to think this is a hardware issue? It's very likely this is a software problem tbh

Don't mind the dvd player. I reconnected it after i reconnected all the harddrives. Thought i might need it soon for a format.

It may be both. I mean - It's of course software problem (spinning wheel - Windows loads something or wait for something), but seems to be related to hardware.

Some special Asus applications are installed? Like "Dual Intelligent Processors", "ASUS Boot Setting", "GameFirst", "RAMCACHE" or other stuff like that? Asus always adds lot of stuff, but many people don't have good opinion of them (me included). If you don't do it already, try uninstalling all Asus crap, even if seems to be useful.

No asus software is installed. Only the latest hardware drivers from their website. After i updated the bios to the latest version i loaded the bios defaults. This didn't fix it either. Also, look up, i posted the video.

I looked up - nice spinning circles, but it doesn't show me everything, that is why I'm asking.

Damn, this computer would be quite a challenge for me if only I could access it. :/

Do some test: https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/ssd_read_speed_tester.html

I know it's 840 PRO, so it should not have problem with data degradation, but it's also old SSD, so maybe it's worth to test read speed of old written data? If you said that you have problem not right after fresh install but later?

That bootlogs people required for check (and it never gives any solution). :)

I'm looking at last lines with "Samsung Magician" - it's probably load after Windows is loaded, but worth try to uninstall it - as far as I remember, Magician starts slowly and doesn't need to be started all the time. But I think it's not a problem, since it's probably autostart after desktop is loaded.

What happen if you unplug lan cable and try to boot? Or even disable lan controller in BIOS? I know - that "try this", "try that" is annoying, but I have some idea if after disabling lan in BIOS, computer will boot fast.

Ok

in bootlog I found a few Nice things

dxg is not loaded

wd is not loaded

ntproxy is not loaded

repeat same thing differend times ( loop )

so

dit you install Some wd software ?

maybe for one of your other drives ?

also update direct x

not sure if dxg is related to it but it won’t hurt

second

open msconfig and disable those 3 things from system startup ( see boot not loaded in boot log )

so it does not try to load them ( as they seems to fail anyway )

and if that fix it then it is just looking where those drivers came from

Just type in msconfig to open it ( or task manager -> run )

the boot video shows me that it is windows preload

as hardware seems fine ( no prepost ) and windows just try to load the drivers ( no blinks or loops or other stuff )

Sidenote

pxe is network boot ( but it is fine. See vid )

so let’s try to debug the boot loader and drivers now ( pre windows )
