VA vs TN Panels for Monitor

Brasdos

Hi I’m just wondering the main differences between a tn panel and a va panel. Do you think an extra 30 dollars is worth it for a va panel. Thanks

Va panels usually have better contrast + colors but slower GTG response times than TN. I have a BenQ GW2760HS VA panel and it has a really nice picture, much better than my old acer TN panel.

Depends on what you are looking for in a monitor. If you want high refresh rate, TN is the panel of choice but you do sacrifice wide viewing angles, and accurate colors. IPS is the opposite of TN in that it has great viewing angles and the most accurate colors, usually accompanied with the terms 99% coverage of the sRGB colors or something of the like. VA, from my understanding, tries to fill the gap between the two at the cost of higher response time.

VA panels are way better than TN ones, I have a Samsung VA panel and it's response time is 5ms (which is okay) and it has pretty good viewing angles (similar to a IPS panel), and colours on it are great.

VA's are imo the lesser of the 3 evils (TN,VA,IPS) VA has the best contrast and darker 'greys' (No LCD can produce 'black' unless it has a very high density FALD backlight system)

However as is the case with all LCD panel types, they have some issues.

The 2 main ones for VA are:

Slow pixel response, this causes ghosting.

Poor viewing angles, more so on monitors, VA TV panels are not that bad.
