Windows 10 on NVMe takes a very long time to boot

Cyb3r

It takes about 3-5 minutes to get into login screen which is really frustrating. I have built the PC myself about 8 months ago, no issues so far other than this one. Though I have a Mac installed on the same PC but on another normal SSD and it boots much much faster in like 10-15 seconds.

Here's my PC specs:

  • MOBO: Asus ROG Z270E
  • CPU: i7-7700K
  • GPU: Asus ROG 1080Ti OC
  • RAM: Corsair LPX 32GB 3200MHz DDR4

Here's what I tried so far:

  • Disabled CSM and enabled secure boot for windows
  • Installed NVMe drivers
  • And few other BIOS tweaks that I have seen on google

Any advice would be much appreciated.

When did the problem start and what exactly have you done to try to fix it?

First off I have nvme and i boots in like 6 seconds. Secondly the first link also shows why you think nvme is bad. You obviously don't have an nvme drive so you ignore its advantages over sata. B|B|B|B|B|B|B|B|B|B|;););););););):P:P:P:P:P:P:P

Try turning on fast boot in your bios. It helped my friend a lot.

Sorry for the late reply I was away for a few days. After following this method to debug the issue with WPR/WPA tools I have come up with a conclusion that a process called "csrss.exe" is causing the delay. You can see below an image of the result and a link to download the generated ETL file if someone else can analyze it and confirm.

If anyone know what this process does and how to fix this issue I will be much appreciated.

It's one of "those" Windows processes: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Client/Server_Runtime_Subsystem

It could be corrupt, or even a malware infection.
