PCI-e slots

Hello

I know that you need a PCI-e x16 for connecting to my motherboard. But what is the difference between a PCI-e 2.0 x16, PCI-e 2.0 x16 and PCI-e x16?

Bandwidth, i.e. transfer speed. For a graphics card, any one of these will do.

well the difference can be as what @Jurrunio said

-Frequencies DON'T represent everything and in many cases that is true (referring to Individual CPU Clocks).

PCIe 2.0 16x = PCIe 3.0 8x. The speed roughly doubled each generation from 4 to 8 GB/s to 15.75. It follows that PCIe 1.0 16x = PCIe 2.0 8x = PCIe 3.0 4x.

 

  • v. 1.x (2.5 GT/s):
    • 250 MB/s (×1)
    • 4 GB/s (×16)
  • v. 2.x (5 GT/s):
    • 500 MB/s (×1)
    • 8 GB/s (×16)
  • v. 3.x (8 GT/s):
    • 985 MB/s (×1)
    • 15.75 GB/s (×16)
