Server Build CPU / Motherboard compatibility

Hi,

I am trying to build a Server with some refurbished parts. I'm not really sure how the LGA 2011 Socket's compatibility works so I wanted to ask you guys if I can use this CPU together with this Motherboard.

You will need the Asus Z9PA-D8. The Asus Z10PA-D8 is for the newer Xeons.

That will not work. That's two generations newer. The Asus Z10 Series motherboards are for the Xeon E5 2600 v3 and Xeon E5 2600 v4 processors.

Ah I did not know this, thank you for pointing that out to me it did look fishy as another hp help desk said it only supported the e5 2600 v4, didnt notice that in the url I posted it said Z10
