It's time to bid a fond farewell to AIM

I'm sure we all saw it coming, but AOL is finally shutting down the AIM service, which first debuted almost twenty years ago and was a prime means of communication, especially between kids/teenagers. Any @aim.com email addresses will still work, but after December 15th the chat client will be no more. 

 

 

I'm obviously not surprised by this and haven't used AIM in almost a decade at this point, it just couldn't compete with Facebook chat where people were already spending time and it was further hindered by things like iMessage that made it all the more easier to communicate without needing an additional account.

Maybe your subway service were using those free AOL disks to offer the service.

Those free AOL disks via carrier pigeon would probably be better than the NYC Subway's LTE/WiFi coverage.
