Ryzen 5 1600 or i5 7600k ?

Should I go for the 1600 or the i5, I cant decide? I am not planning to stream or to edit videos im just looking for the best CPU + Mainboard upgrade which fits my needs. I play games like Arma 2 and Arma 3, Rainbow Six Siege, DayZ, GTA V, PUGB, Battlefield 4 and 1 and all sorts of singleplayer games like Fallout 4, Witcher 3, Dying Light, etc.

My grafics card is a GTX 1060 6GB if someone needs to know.

Which of these CPU´s would be the best pick.

The i5 costs 216€ and the 1600 costs 199€ where I live.

But wouldn´t I profit more from the faster singel core speed of the i5, especially in Arma and DayZ?

the i5 will do better in single threaded applications and some multi threaded loads, AMD has commited to the am4 platform for years though so there's a multi-generational cpu upgrade path if you feel your cpu isn't pulling its weight as it ages whereas the i5 will only have the option of going to the 7700k since intel is changing sockets again

If you are going to side with Intel wait for 8th generation CPU's. i5's will have 6C/6T.

1600 for sure, but 8th gen intel is coming out in like 1-2 weeks so if that goes well you might wanna get that, but I doubt it will make a difference.

Not really, also PUBG uses 6 cores now

And cost $250 for the unlocked i5

The z270 to OC the i5 will be 1.5-2x more expensive. I bought my z270 MSI at a huge discount ( was 165, got it at 110). Otherwise, a B350 will be @100. Invest the rest in RAM or SSD.

I bought the 7600k because I found a guy that buys bulk and sells them under the market price and because I need that sweet 5.1 GHz for what I play.

But hands down Ryzen.

MSI Z270 SLI PLUS - 7600k 5.1GHz - Corsair LPX 3000MHz - G1 Gaming GTX1060 - Arctic LiquidFreezer 240 - Crucial m.2 275GB - WD 1TB - EVGA B3 750W - Segotep Lux - LG 34UC79 Curved - Redragon Yama - Redragon Hydra - Gigabyte WIFI

Sound is provided by a Pioneer Amp from the 70s - if it's not broken, don't fix it.

wait til august 21 & watch what intel is about to unveil. if you get i5 8th with 6 cores with same price, that means you wont have to sacrifice multi threaded performance much either.

Alright bro. It's all good. I thought you where trying to start stuff with that status update. R5 1600 is way better than 7th gen i5's. It'll most likely have better multi-threaded performance than 8th generation i5's but not single threaded performance. The i7-8700K will beat it though in both multi and single threaded performance. But the R5 1600 will probably still be cheaper.
