Gaming laptop good for school as well?

I’m looking into laptops for school and I’m sort of being pushed in the direction of a gaming laptop. Now before you jump to the comments to tell me not to buy a gaming laptop I’m better off with a desktop, I understand that. I do however want to know for casual, occasional  gaming and more school use than anything would that be a good option? I would like to play games along the lines of Day Z, Player unknown battlegrounds. Price isnt a huge obstical but nothing over $1,500. Would the specs be good enough to blow simple schooling out of the water and not slow down and last after just a few years or downloads? I’m new to gaming computers in general so any opinions and recommendations would be great, Thanks!

Just spend 200$ or less on a laptop for schoolwork and stuff, then the rest can go into a desktop that you will actually game on.

First off, I really don't recommend the Razer Blade. I own a 2015 model personally, and although it's a beautiful piece of technology, thermal output is just insane, waaay too much for Razer's cooling 'solution'.

With that out of the way, I'd suggest Dell's XPS 15, for build quality, battery life, and, with a 1050/ti, wonderful gaming performance. Gigabyte's Aero 15 is also a strong contender here.

Any gaming laptop should last at least a few years, given there is an SSD. MAKE SURE THERE IS A BOOT SSD OR ELSE IT WILL SLOW DOWN IN 3 DAYS.

Something like this, although it is not set in stone.

I've never really consideredd getting a gaming laptop, but you might want to consider the Dell Inspiron 15 7000. It's 850 USD for an Intel Core i5 7300HQ and a 1050 Ti.

Edit: It does come with a 256GB ssd.

Personally I would buy a HDD and add it. 256 GB isn't enough for most users. It is easy to add one, just google for a review of it.

I would do @Vespertine said and get a 200 dollar chromebook and a 1200 ish laptop

A cheap Atom 2-in-1 windows machine can also do the job, with the added benefit of being able to install anything Win32

Don't carry a gaming laptop around school. You will get funny looks.

Who cares what looks you get? Shouldn't even be a factor when you're considering buying something
