Will this heatsink work for my m.2 ssd?

Hey there  hi!

 

I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on m.2 cooling. 

I have the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB M.2-2280 mounted on the bottom of my motherboard and am looking at these two potential options.

I think the first one may not fit as it's maybe too tall to fit on the bottom?

shouldnt need it on that drive its not NVME so its not as fast thus not getting as warm as an NVME drive

850 EVO M.2 isn't NVMe and the only one that had an overheating issue was the 950 PRO which the 960 EVO and PRO have fixed with copper laid into the sticker.

I have yet to see any m.2 drive need a heatsink in any of the systems I have built... as long as you have good airflow you shouldn't need it. I haven't tried all drives obviously, and always build in nice airflow cases, so that could be it. My m.2 drive currently sits at 39C steady, hardly ever changes.

it will be neglible unless its under a direct heat source for instances a gpu but these arent NVME drives so it adding a heatsink is negligible as you arent going to really have any benefit ei higher speeds etc

Yeah thats the problem that some motherboard makers do they make it so they force you to buy their product to keep it cooler

this is a sata m.2 it doesnt require active/passive cooling

if it was a NVME drive it may or may not require it ,but either way its up to the end user if it is worth it otherwise generally they are ok with out it

Thanks for feedback

My question is not the necessity though as I have done my own assessment on need but on the compatibility so I appreciate any advice on that matter :D. The raspberry pi ones are really cute, thanks for the link!
