Planning Ryzen R5 musician/gaming/streaming pc

Hi,

I am looking to buy a new Pc for music creation, streaming and gaming. For music creation I use Ableton live. The Pc (Mac) I am currently using is a MacMini from 2011 running Windows 10 under Bootcamp.

These are the parts I want to buy:

Are these parts compatible? I am a first time builder and looking for the least ammount of hassle. For storage I will be using my 500gb ssd from the MacMini. I will also be using an external usb 3.0 drive of 1tb, I need this storage to be interchangeable with my Windows Laptop. I will be using the stock cooler for the cpu with a moderate OC.

I need a motherboard with at least 7 usb ports (due to many midi devices).

Thanks in advance!

You could get a PCIe USB controller card if you need more USB ports. ;)

Yep, the parts are compatible. Might want to consider putting them into PCPP next time.

Might want to take a look at a more powerful PSU.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Do you have an audio interface? For instruments and stuff?

I have a Focusrite Scarlett Solo hooked up to a pair of monitors and a condensor mic. The instruments I use are: Launchpad Pro, Launchkey 25 and a Launchcontrol.

Thank you, which PSU would you suggest?

Oh right haven't though of that lol. So I could opt for a b350 board with a usb pcie. Any downsides for choosing B350 over x370?

@Revess How about this build? the graphicscard is faster, the ram is clocked higher, and you have about 8 usb slots with this mobo.

Btw most midi instruments, like keyboards, drumcomputers etc. don't need a USB 3.1/3.0 connection, so getting a usb hub if 8 slots are not enough, which i.e. extends 1 usb 3.0 to 4 or more usb 2.0 might be very useful for you :). Your interface should definitely get a usb 3.1 port for itself. For the rest, a hub would be sufficient.

This is one example:

I would probably get a cheaper one though, because the bigger ones seem to have a lot of bad reviews. This one looks solid:

Multi GPU isn't a really thing with B350 boards except 2 way crossfire with some boards at the moment. X370 boards usually have a second full length PCIe 3.0 slot which runs x8 in most cases. And of course with B350 you will probably have less premium features/less connectors since those boards are more budget orientated. But overclocking is supported on B350.

The usb extender option, just like @GrayTech said, is the best solution for me! Now I have this external powered usb hub, because usb 2.0 ON THE MacMini can't provide enough power, but usb 3.0 might be able to. So I'll opt for the b350 mobo. The GPU in question is out of the question. It is going to be a gtx 1050 TI or a Radeon RX570, because I am not going to drop over 300 euro's on one GPU, I just can't deal with the expencive pricing. Thanks for the advice!

You can't really find RX 570s in stock for a reasonable price. :(

Yeah I know that, it's the only thing I'll have to wait for. Damn you Crypto currency!

You could get a cheap used GPU which you can use until RX 570s are back in stock so you can already use your new PC.

Yeah, I might go and get the ASUS GeForce GTX 1050 Ti ROG Strix OC 4G just for now. These shortages are rediculous. I might keep this GPU for one to two years and then upgrade. It will be just enough to handle the games I will play on a regular basis, more importantly it is in stock at my local store. Now I just have to wait until the 14th to get my loan lol.
