I've always loved these old Apple system mods. To me, computer modding has turned into sort of what you see in the car modding scene: a bunch of kiddies mindlessly strapping off the shelf components together. Modding should involve self fabrication and expertise to make things that weren't designed to fit together, fit together. This build certainty has evidence to show those attributes as well as the hours and effort it took to put everything together, I like that.

Thanks for the kind words!  Also, as a car mechanic I can really agree on the comparison. So sick of kids buying coilovers and wheels and thinking they have built something.

Today I started polishing all of the outside panels, they came out pretty well. I was able to remove most of the scratches on the outside, I didn't go all out polishing the side ones since they will most likely be replaced in the future.

A couple of days ago I also made some minor stuff to the case. I used the dremel to make a couple of holes on the door panel so I can hide the 8 pin extension and also some small round holes for zip ties to go around and help manage the 24 and 8 pin cables.

I think you can make it fit ;)

It's a really tight fit, I could chop a bit of the R9's shroud but it still hits with the liquid cooler tubes pretty hard, and then those hit the ram... I've been looking at small graphics cards and EVGA seems to have some really small 1050 and 1050ti's, so that may also be an option, I'd also like to upgrade to a modular PSU in the future

I've been looking at graphics cards today and I have narrowed it down to either a 1050ti from EVGA or an RX560 from MSI, those seem to be pretty small and available were I live

Hi again! I've been using the G4 for some time now and it is working really nice. I've also been quite busy with work for the past weeks so I haven't been able to work on it too much. I have changed the HD for a new WD Blue 1TB, and have also ordered some stuff from ebay since I want to try making a front panel board (instead of hacking the original one)

Also this guy arrived today in the mail. It was advertised as not working and missing the HD. The funny thing is that it does have it's original 30GB HD (Which was unplugged) but it's missing the CMOS battery. I might try fixing it and if that doesn't work maybe I'll make another project with it in the future. For the moment it fits nicely with the rest of my G4/5 collection.

Nice collection!

I am highly disappointed in myself for getting rid of my Mac collections over time.

It's a shame, but in the end they take up a lot of space. I have quite a few old Macs and most of them are just stored inside a box till I find what to do with them
