yes you can, unless you have the 970s, 970 sli is not a good idea, i suggest you save up to get a 1070

Ive already got one 970 already so im thinking of just getting another 2nd hand 970 to add on

currently MSI Z87 MPOWER, i7-4790, CM SEIDON 120V PLUS, GTX 750TI, CX 600M, CM690 II basic

Its actually not the worst idea, As thanks to the 10xx series copmpletely destroying the 9xx series they have plummeted in price, for me with my 980 its actually more worth it to get another one and take that performance increase than sell for card for so little and dig very deep into my pockets. Granted this is country dependant but back home the 980 has dropped to what the 960 new was selling for. 

 

and it was proven that 970's did SLi really well, yeah not up to the current cards levels but still a very good improvment. This is all assuming you already have a PSU for SLI. 

 

@OP you can look at some of the bridges that came out with the 9 series, IIRC they werent the big double HB ones they were single ones, but don't worry you won't have to be stuck with the ugly AF ribbon one as MSI and some of the other guys did make a really good looking one
