THE MOST RUBBISH BUILD!

back from 2011 I think

i5 2500K 3.4GHz (clocked up to 4.7GHz but crashed but then ran soothly for a bit at 4.6GHz till it crashed a week later lol)

8gb ram

Default Intel HD graphics 3000

500W PS

ugly but decent but annoyingly small megaware case

120gb SSD

4TB total storage from other storage devices

TP-Link 300Mbps Wireless N Adapter

Running Windows 10 Pro

Terrible, I'm sure everyone got a better build but in a months time im going to build the ultimate gaming rig.

Recommend components please for pure performance and cooling.

You want recommendations for this build? Or for the new one you're planning?

For this build, I'd recommend getting 16GB RAM (but if it's DDR3, which I think is pretty expensive now, just wait till your new build), and an RX480/580, or RX470 (Cheaper). There aren't really any Nvidia offerings that give you as much bang for your buck.

But, then why have money? Isn't it decreed that all excess money must be spent on your hobby of choice? I'm sure that's a law somewhere. ;)

EDIT: Which, in my case, means I have to spend it all on computers, bikes, my car, and Star Wars cosplay (when I finally get around to it). I seem to pick expensive hobbies. :(

Just upgrading the SSD to a 500 GB 850 EVO and getting a shiny new high end gpu like the 1070 or 1080 would be enough, leaving the rest of the money to be spent on other hobbies or just ice cream :D

Yes, though it may make it so the OP can only game, as he'll be so fat from gorging on ice cream 24/7 he won't be able to move! Then he'll wish he had spent the money upgrading his gaming setup! In that case, it'd be good if his money ran out.

Spending the money on computer parts is always good, new things come out, and they might just be better, volta is a long way away but vega and new cpus are around the corner

That sounds pretty good to be honest, hate looking at my 3.4GHz processor though, think im gonna have to upgrade that to the i7 7700k + Asus Intel ROG STRIX Z270F . that would be pretty cool lol and spending the rest on ice cream would be a good idea :P:D

To be honest, I'd stick with what you have, get an extra 8GB of RAM and throw a 980 Ti/1080/1080 Ti in it.  Maybe see how cheap you can pick up a 3770K? idk how well they work/OC on Sandy Bridge boards.

Alternatively, R7 1700.

idk much about amd but ive heard their 3ghz for example is no where close to the 3ghz of an intel version of the same processor

Don't pay attention to clock speed, especially when comparing between architectures.  AMD clock does not equal Intel clock.

That being said.  Yes, that was the case for the FX-series of processors against Haswell and Skylake.  But keep in mind that the FX-8350 was designed to compete against the Sandy Bridge i7-2600K and such that you already have in your system.

The new Ryzen processors are very competitive - IPC is lower than Kaby Lake, but there's simply more cores to do work on.  And even then, a lot of the IPC suffering is because the software world has started to optimize for Intel since AMD hadn't release a chip in 5 years.
