corsair 200R Case Mod

SHADY16

So, i am considering cutting out an opening in the front to allow better airflow for my front intake fans i am just looking for any tips of how to do this what materials to use etc. i do want some protection against dust.  i am also wondering how much it could help with temps etc. my temps are fine im just looking to be able to lower my fan speed to combat noise a bit. ive attached pics of my case below for reference

Don't; cutting holes and silence do not go well together.

If you want to do a test take off the front panel to see what temps you get with the extra airflow, you can cut it and add in mesh depending on your design. It's plastic so it's fairly easy to cut with a dremel.

I doubt they are the same as noctuas in any regard. If that's the case, how would adding more help? Are the temps better with the side off? Could get a regular side cover and get two more 120mm intakes.

the temps drop about 3-5c with side panel off. gpu gets about 81-82c max fan after long period about 77-78c without side panel not overclocked either

I would suggest cleaning the cooler if it has any dust and re applying new thermal paste if your having to run it at 100% speed.

its still pretty new and i have dust filters on all my fan ports also there is a sticker on one of the screws that says warranty void if removed, its only barely passed 30 days old. also to note i had a 1080 ACX that i had to run at 90-100% fan to keep under 80c so it is not just this card

I would see if you can RMA it then, the card shouldn't run that hot on stock speeds with 100% fan.

im not 100% sure if its the card itself or something with my case fan setup because ive had issues with temps for a while, first i got the 1080 FE from EVGA same thing up to 82c with 100% fan switched it out for the  MSI gaming x had to keep fan at 90% to keep it under 80c and again with the 1080 ACX i had previous same thing. now with this 1080 Ti i have to keep fan at 90-100% to keep temps high 70s to 80c

If it's a 1080ti they are relatively hot cards so they can get pretty toasty, but personally at a 100% fan speed that would get a little loud.

yeah im not concerned with the temps as i know 75-82c isnt damaging in any way im just thinking of ways i can improve my airflow of the case so maybe i can low my fan speed or i can say forget MSI's warranty since i did buy a 2 yr in store warranty at microcenter and open it any way or install a hybdrid kit from evga but im worried having my only 2 exhaust as radiators is ok or not. all i would have to do is put the original cooler back on if i were to return it to micro

You can add another intake and exhaust fan to increase flow through the case itself but with an intake right below near the GPU I don't see that making a huge impact.

ive filled all my intake holes and with my liquid cooler i cant place a fan on the 2nd top spot due to lake of clearance so atm i have 3 120mm intake 1 120(rad) exhaust and 1 140mm exhuast. so i cant really do much about fans with my current case, i was just thinking about cutting the hole to have more unrestricted airflow, 3 corsair AF120's 1 Corsair SP120 on rad and 1 corsair MLPro 140MM top exhaust

That can help, as said taking off the front will give you the best idea of what temp difference you get, it looks like at least 5C which is not bad

Could try and get ahold of side panel with the fan mounts like I said. Puts them directly over the card.

Well you want to cut up the front for more airflow, don't see how this would any different. It would be better if anything.

yeah im trying to improve airflow while keeping the aesthetics i really like clear side window, tbh im thinking about just biting the bulllet and buying a new case to have best of both worlds, im just lazy and havent felt like transferring everything lol
