Aftermarket cooler on a GTX 970

I have commented about this here before, my GPU cooler sucks, and i want to change that for quite a while.

I was messing around QuietPC.com and i found a Gelid Icy Vision Rev. 2 GPU cooler for 36GBP total, a price i'm more than happy to pay, because it's cheaper than the Arctic Accelero Mono sold over here in Brazil.

Thing is, i can't find any info regarding compatibility with the GTX 970, it only mentions compatibility up to the GTX 780, however, Gelid also sells a conversion kit , which makes it compatible with the GTX 10X0 series.

I wonder, will this cooler fit my 970? Will i need the conversion kit?

Why not just save for a new card when Volta comes around? It is what I have been doing, I plan on trying to sell my Titan X on Mercado Livre when Volta releases and go for either the GTX2080 or Titan XV, but even the cheaper GTX 2070 will be on pair with a 1080ti of today.

I'm having a hard time trying to sell this card on mercado livre, my original idea was to sell it and "cross-grade" with an RX480 or a GTX1060 with a better cooler, but i'm not being able to negociate this card for more than R$700, so i might as well just upgrade the cooler on the card i already own, it wouldn't add insult to injury.

Tbh, a person called me just a few hours ago trying to pay R$850 for the card, because he apparently has some multimedia content he has to edit in a short time and he needs a better gpu asap. Maybe i'll sell it to him and buy a newer card, it wouldn't be a bad idea...

Alternatively i'll just need to find a person with a GTX 780 and ask him/her to measure the distance between the screws that mount the cooler on the card, if they match up to those on my 970, it will fit.

About the cooler, well I have a Founders Edition cooler so you can tell I really don't mind noise or thermals all that much as long as it works

 

I do hope you manage to make a good deal, I'm expecting to sell this Titan X for R$2000,00 when times comes, I'm betting that the fact it is a deep learning / workstation card it'll retain it's price better...

Yah! Sold it, finally! I think i'm going for an RX 480 now, i'd wait if i could, but because i have a Xeon, i have to have a card in order to have video. 

And your Titan X, i'm pretty sure you'll be getting the R$2000, its a really good card.

so... did you manage to save enough for the Titan V, or are you still saving for the GTX2080?

My brother got the TITAN V and I end up with a 1080 Ti
