Chipset decision time.

Hey guys,

I have been looking to buy a new mobo. I'll also be buying a new g4560. I am very confused between three chipsets - h170 , z170 , b250

So, which chipset should I opt for. I am in no mood to overclock my cpu.

You can't overclock a Pentium G4560 unfortunately. So try to grab a cheap H110 motherboard, and make sure its BIOS supports the Pentium. Alternatively you could wait about a month for cheap AMD CPUs to come out, those will be overclockable but might cost a bit more depending on what they are.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

also consider ryzen  3 if you can wait

it will be way better

The Ryzen 3 starting price is $119 (rumored) which is almost twice the price compared to the G4560
Still Ryzen 3 will likely perform way better than the G4560

If you plan to overclock i would also get the ryzen 3 or intel core i3 7350k

In intel's side you can only overclock on z series or x99 series motherboard and K series processor which is unlocked

On the other hand, amd is mote flexible on terms overclocking

Sorry, I skipped the word 'no' in phrase 'I am in mood'. So, now it sounds like this 'I am in mood to overclock my cpu'.

In case if i do not wish to buy ryzen 3 due to its price, so would h110, just with an BIOS update, would be good enough as compared to h170 or z170 or b250 ?

If you don't want to overclock, a G4560 and a H110 motherboard (but make sure they will work together because some won't without a BIOS update).

Those will do a good job for a gaming and office computer. And should be pretty cheap.

H110 is a good suggestion, but since it's technically a last-generation chipset it can be difficult to be sure yours will come with the BIOS version needed for Kaby Lake CPU support. If you aren't sure, B250 is a good alternative. It's a bit more expensive, but peace of mind can be worth it sometimes.

B250 does have additional PCIe, USB, and SATA connectivity over H110, though most low-end PCs won't need it.
